Experience a step in time on board the Isla Mauritia, an authentic schooner, built in 1852. Drop anchor off the North-West coast. Laze on the unspoilt beach or swim in the crystal clear waters and explore the wonders of the tropical reef with snorkelling equipment before having a picnic lunch. Early morning visit at Domaine Les Pailles. A step back in time in the lap of this natural haven will lead you to a moving reconstitution of a sugar plantation of the last century. Ascend the hills enclosing this forgotten valley in a Land Rover. After a short ride in a horse carriage, enjoy a leisure walk from the old sugar mill to the rum distillery and through the spice garden. Then, have a delicious lunch at one of the Domaine Les Pailles restaurants. Finish off the day by a visit of ‘Eureka’ a magnificent colonial house set against the Ory mountain in Moka.

Take the road to reach the ‘Domaine des Aubineaux’ for a glimpse of historic Mauritius in its full authenticity. Heading south, you will be delightfully hit by the rare scent that overspeads the tea plantations in the village of Nouvelle France and Rose-Bell. In Mahebourge, visit the naval museum there are a preserved collection of relics salvaged from the wrecks, reminiscent of the fierce naval battles that took place in the region. Afterwards stop at the typical and colourful market place of the village before going to Anse Bambous at Vieux Grant Port for lunch in a rustic place wrapped up by the sky, the mountain and the sea. After lunch, stroll through the mangrove forest full of natural life or glide gently in the fish reserve.
